The ultrasonic flaw detection process is a non-destructive flaw detection technology based on the acoustic principle. It uses the propagation characteristics of ultrasonic waves to detect internal defects in materials. Ultrasonic waves are high-frequency sound waves with strong directional, high penetration ability and concentrated energy. When propagating in materials, they can sensitively reflect structural changes in materials. When the ultrasonic beam encounters defects inside the material (such as cracks, inclusions, pores, etc.), reflection, scattering or diffraction will occur at the defects. After these abnormal signals are received and converted into electrical signals, they are amplified, processed and analyzed by the flaw detector to achieve internal defect detection, location and evaluation of materials. The ultrasonic flaw detection process has many significant features. One is that it is extremely sensitive and can detect subtle flaws, even some subtle cracks that are not easily perceived by the naked eye. Taking the inspection of railway freight car axles as an example, the ultrasonic flaw detector can detect tiny cracks with a diameter of only 0.1mm inside the axle. Second, ultrasonic testing is a non-destructive testing method that does not cause any physical damage to the material being tested. It is particularly important for important parts that maintain the integrity of the material. In addition, ultrasonic testing has the advantages of high detection speed, simple operation and low cost, and is widely used in industrial production, aerospace and nuclear industries. The selection of probes, the use of coupling agents and the setting of detection parameters during ultrasonic testing will affect the detection results. Therefore, in the process of ultrasonic testing, it is necessary to consider the properties of the material being tested, the type of defects and the detection requirements, and select appropriate parameters and methods. At the same time, the testing personnel are required to obtain qualification certificates and job certificates issued by relevant units and receive professional training to ensure that they can skillfully use ultrasonic testing and improve the accuracy and reliability of flaw detection.
